Suzanne Ciani, a grand master of electronic music known for her film\/game music and pioneering New Age sounds, and Caitlin Aurelia Smith, a rapidly rising synthesizer player who has collaborated with Animal Collective and others, have created a fantastical ocean blue sound. Has there ever been such a highly anticipated collaboration in the synth world? Suzanne Ciani, who has been involved in the music of many films including Coca-Cola and major commercial jingles and Star Wars, and has been nominated for a Grammy Award five times, and Caitlin Aurelia Smith, who has released two albums since 2015 and has received immense trust and praise from many media outlets, including Pitchfork, and artists such as Animal Collective\/Battles, is currently one of the most talked-about synthesizer players. A collaboration between these two leading female artists, old and new, was inevitable. The two, who happened to live in the same neighborhood, hit it off and freely played the modular synthesizers Buchla 200 E and Buchla Music Easel in the living room of Suzanne's home, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The sound, drifting like the gentle waves of the Pacific, creates a world that only these two could produce at that moment.
