Following 2021's *Windflowers*, they release their seventh studio album, *Things We Have In Common*. This album, their first in three years, closes a cycle that began with 2019's *Altid Sammen* and continued with *Windflowers*. These three albums open the door to a simpler, more inclusive expression, exploring themes of human connection, the relationship between humans and nature, and collective spirituality and belonging. In \"Things We Have In Common,\" pianist\/composer Ren? Mourgaard, a founding member of Efterklang with Mads Brauer, Rasmus Stolberg, and Kasper Clausen, who left the band after their second album \"Parades\" in 2007, is deeply involved again, co-writing 7 of the 9 tracks. During his time away from the band, Ren? fell in love with a woman raised in the Mormon Church, awakened to the spiritual side of himself, and embraced Mormonism body and soul. However, as time passed, it became increasingly difficult for him to maintain his newly discovered faith, and eventually his faith threatened to be crushed by the weight of unanswered questions. Then, in 2022, Ren? broke with Mormonism. In this work, the three main members of Efterklang take a step back to create room for Ren?'s ideas and sonic world. A common place they found in music at the end of their separate journeys. This album expresses their nomadic sense of belonging, embodying the idea of ??\"being in a state of belonging nowhere, not belonging to anyone, and being together within that state.\" In addition to Ren? Mourgaard, many other musicians participated. Key collaborators include Beirut (aka Zach Condon), Finnish drummer Tatu Ronko, Venezuelan guitarist Hector Tosta, and Guatemalan cellist\/singer Mabe Fratti. Italian engineer Francesco Donadello, known for his work with J?hann J?hannsson and Dustin O'Halloran, also left an important mark on this album, and the South Denmark Girls' Choir (S?nderjysk Pigekor), who sing on \"Animated Heart\" and \"To A New Day,\" played a similarly important role. Exactly 20 years after their first album, \"Tripper,\" this is where Efterklang, with their experimental adventurous spirit and unafraid of continuous change, has arrived.
