He doesn't make grand gestures or sing in an overly sentimental way, but simply pushes the music forward. From this, the strength of Mazar's feelings for the work comes through more than the speed of the tempo. Sweet melodies appear throughout Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, but even there, Mazar prefers natural expression over refinement. The Czech Philharmonic's warm tone suits M?cal's music very well. I think M?cal's simple musicality is largely brought to life by the Czech Philharmonic. This album is the fourth in this duo's Tchaikovsky series.
