This album follows their critically acclaimed 2018 release \"Con Todo El Mundo,\" the same year the band also released the collaborative EP \"Texas Sun\" with Leon Bridges. The lead single from the album is \"Time (You and I),\" and the video for the song was directed by Felix Heyes \u0026amp; Josh R.R. King. Khruangbin has always been multilingual, weaving together disparate musical languages ??like East Asian surf rock, Persian funk, and Jamaican dub into delicate harmonies. However, on their third album, *Mordechai*, vocals are featured on almost every track. It's a risky but significant change to take Khruangbin's ecstatic sound directly towards an emotional sensation without losing their nomadic wandering spirit, but it all began when they returned to Texas from touring. With two critically acclaimed albums, *The Universe Smiles Upon You* and *Con Todo El Mundo*, Khruangbin toured across America, Europe, and Southeast Asia for nearly three and a half years until the summer of 2019. After that, they returned to their studio on a farm in Burton, Texas, and began working on their third album, but then slowed down for a while. During that time, Ochoa went hiking with a stranger family led by a father named Mordechai, and had an enlightening and reborn experience. And she jotted down many words in her notebook. When the band began putting together the songs for the album, they looked for spaces in each song that only vocals could fill, and that's when their attention turned to Ochoa's notebook. Khruangbin had previously written lyrics for songs like \"Friday Morning\" and \"C'mo Te Quiero,\" but this time, Ochoa felt she had something to say. And indeed, those words were used in the album.
