Recording took place in Oakland in the winter of 2024 with Tom Healy (Tiny Ruins, Marlon Williams). The minimalist and distinctive arrangements were recorded onto tape, centering on vocals and guitar, as the final thread to breathe life into the album. But the Folk Bitch Trio, comprised of high school friends Gracie Sinclair, Jeanie Pilkington, and Heide Peverelle, share a common sense of humor deeply rooted in their music, which gives it a brilliance and allows it to escape the genre's trap of self-consciousness. Pilkington grew up with musician parents and has formative memories of watching them perform, listening to Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams, and imagining herself pursuing a career as a musician.
