For over 18 years, having released five studio albums, Iceage has always operated with the concept of \"collapse\" in mind. It's a style that captures the flow of life through song, expressing it in music, in every aspect of playing, singing, and songwriting?a style that seems to crumble yet simultaneously bounce back. The album, \"For Love of Grace \u0026amp; the Hereafter,\" produced and mixed by the band themselves and Nis Bysted, was recorded last year at Silence Studio, a modest house in the Swedish countryside near the Norwegian border. Twelve years ago, they recorded their 2014 album, \"Plowing Into the Field of Love,\" in the same studio, and it's no coincidence that this is the only time they've returned to make an album there. They wanted to capture the same intense energy as back then. \"The songs had to be improvisational, urgent, raw, and fast. We wanted to strip away everything unnecessary. Finding a place to release that energy is what excites us the most,\" says R?nnenfelt. The band drew on thousands of hours of experience they've spent together on stage since their teens to create this album. The equipment was kept as simple as possible, decisions were made on the fly, and overthinking was avoided. Overdubs were kept to a minimum, and takes were carefully planned and repeated. The lyrics were written just a few weeks before entering the studio, to prevent the overall picture from becoming too fragmented and to increase the sense of risk and urgency. 'For Love of Grace \u0026amp; the Hereafter' is bright and energetic. Fun and sincerity are fused more than ever, growing and shining through love. Throughout their six albums, Iceage has found salvation in true love, through the anguish of romantic and sibling love. Everything for the band led up to this moment: the completion of a cycle where the cathartic breakdown of the community and satisfaction and chaos can clearly coexist. Iceage was formed in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2008. The band consists of five members: vocalist Elias R?nnenfelt, guitarist Johan Suurballe Wieth, drummer Dan Kj?r Nielsen, guitarist Casper Morilla Fernandez, and bassist Jakob Tvilling Pless. They released their debut album, \"New Brigade,\" in 2011 on Matador Records.
