Every artist must find their voice. Gia Margaret couldn't find herself until she lost her voice. Unable to sing for years due to a vocal cord injury, she created a different musical language, mastering the complex and intimate ambient music grammar pioneered by Ernest Hood and perfected by The Books. The Chicago-born pianist\/composer surrendered to the pure emotional possibilities of sound with her two instrumental albums at the time (2020's \"Mia Gargaret\" and 2023's \"Romantic Piano\"). Now, with her physical voice healed and her artistic voice refined, she returns to her roots with \"Singing,\" her first vocal album since 2018's \"There's Always Glimmer.\" Guided by soft piano melodies like breath blown onto glass, the music of \"Singing\" reflects the delicate sensibility of a jeweler cultivated in silence. \"Romantic Piano\" fully showcases Margaret's talent for weaving seemingly contradictory emotions with origami-like melodies. Margaret's longtime collaborator, Doug Saltzman, handled many of the performances and co-productions. Gia Margaret is a singer-songwriter and record producer from Chicago, USA. She released her debut album, \"There's Always Glimmer,\" in 2018. While her albums possessed a lyrical brilliance, an illness during a tour prevented her from singing, revealing her keen intuition for arrangement and composition. She released the almost wordless ambient album \"Mia Gargaret\" (2020) and its sequel \"Romantic Piano\" (2023). \"Composing instrumental music is generally a much more enjoyable process than lyrical songwriting. The process itself ultimately influences my songwriting,\" Margaret says.
