However, the project's roots can be traced back to August 2014, when its sole member, Dmitry Marchenko, wrote the first song for his first black metal act, Yokai. He was a fan of the genre, but felt that the version of black metal he wanted to hear didn't yet exist. After recording dozens of songs as Yokai, Dmitry wanted to take the project to a new level, to make it public and meaningful. And thus, Kekht Arakh was born. Kekht Arakh's first release, the EP *Through the Branches to Eternity* (2018), featured a stark contrast between black metal tracks and quiet ballads, a characteristic that would later develop into the project's signature sound. This characteristic was further solidified in their debut album *Night \u0026amp; Love* (2018) and second album *Pale Swordsman* (2021), placing the project in the spotlight as an exciting new form of black metal.
