Its distinctive and cutting-edge NY sound, exemplified by works by the Fatback Band and Dizzy Gillespie, along with the legacy of its subsidiary Today Records, which focused more on soul music under legendary producer Patrick Adams, was re-evaluated in the 1990s as a rare groove classic. This compilation features selections from the Perception\/Today catalog from a \"DJ\" perspective, structured as a \"work\" that tells a story.
