(C)RS\u003cbr\u003e\nAbout the Artist: This 40th-anniversary edition of the 'Red Cross' EP is a document of Redd Kross's birth. Formed in Hawthorne, California, Redd Kross was nurtured there alongside bands like Black Flag, Descendents, and Minutemen. This collection of 11 tracks (including a live track recorded at The Church in Hermosa Beach, also known as the birthplace of Black Flag) aptly demonstrates the McDonald brothers' contribution to the local punk scene at the incredibly precocious ages of 12 and 16. The four demo tracks were recorded at Media Art in Hermosa Beach, the same studio that produced Black Flag's *Nervous Breakdown* EP, with Spot as engineer and Joe Nolte of power pop godfather The Last as producer. This marked Redd Kross's first time in a recording studio, and Steve's earnings from his newspaper delivery job were used to cover the recording costs. A few months later, in October 1979, Redd Kross signed with Posh Boy and recorded again at Shelter Studios. This recording session produced the power pop-punk classics \"Annette's Got the Hits\" and \"I Hate My School,\" as well as re-recording several tracks from the earlier demo.
