Born from numerous fragments of ideas and experiments, this album, a fusion of collaborations with these artists and Bonobo's explosive creativity, is the most emotional masterpiece of his career. Composed of 12 tracks, the album includes some of Bonobo's hardest and grooviest songs to date, while the several ballads perfectly placed throughout the album shine with a sense of hope for the listener. Through his own exploration of modular synthesizers, recording with harpist Lara Somogyi, working with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and playing the Fender Rhodes himself, Bonobo began to develop musical themes, and the album was recorded and mixed by himself over a two-year period. Regarding \"Tides,\" one of the highlights featuring Jamila Woods, Bonobo himself said, \"I knew I had the core, and I knew what everything would sound like,\" and that the album gradually took shape around this song. He also said that working with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and actually recording in the studio with orchestral musicians was a major factor in creating the songs.
