A culmination of work and groundbreaking ingenuity, featuring all Animal Collective members! A limited edition 7-inch single of the 1st single, \"Defense,\" will also be released! Panda Bear, the solo project of Noah Lennox, a central member of Animal Collective and known as an unparalleled melody maker, has released the album 'Sinister Grift' on Domino. This work was recorded at his home studio, \"Estudio Campo,\" in Lisbon, Portugal, and is a co-production with fellow Animal Collective member Deaken, also known as Josh Dib. The 1st single, \"Defense,\" has been released to coincide with the album's announcement, and features Cindy Lee, a project by Canadian musician Patrick Flegel, on guitar. This track will also be released in a super-limited 7-inch format with another track, \"Virginia Tech,\" on the B-side. Twenty years after his debut as drummer and vocalist in Animal Collective, Noah Lennox has continued to create music through various styles, and has been involved in many beloved musical works beyond Animal Collective and his solo projects. As a result, the consistency of his creative vision is sometimes overlooked, but from important works such as his 2007 solo album \"Person Pitch\" and 2015's \"Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper,\" to Animal Collective's breakthrough albums \"Sung Tongs\" (2004) and \"Merriweather Post Pavilion\" (2009), and even his groundbreaking collaborations with Daft Punk, Solange, Dean Blunt, Paramore, and Jamie xx, his work has consistently maintained a clear core, influencing many artists across generations and genres. \"Sinister Grift\" is Panda Bear's first solo album in five years, a culmination of his career to date, yet also innovative. His solo work has ranged from expressions of deep sorrow to colorful, electronic epics, but this is the warmest, most immediate sound he's ever produced. Working in his home studio in Portugal with his Animal Collective bandmate Deaken (Josh Dib), Panda Bear has created a new album that sounds like an old-school rock ensemble. While he plays almost all the instruments himself, he also invited fellow musicians such as Cindy Lee and Rivka Ravede of Spirit of the Beehive, and this is the first solo album in which all the other members of Animal Collective participate. The album also features comments from Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never, Jessica Pratt, Maria Reis, DJ Falcon, and Alan Blakes. \"Making this album felt like a sacred and warm return. I first recorded music with Noah on multi-track cassette in 1991. 32 years later, we're doing it the same way, just the two of us in a room, searching for sounds and emotions that resonate with us. I'm incredibly proud of this work we've created together. 'Sinister Grift' feels like a songwriter I've known for over 30 years, but at the same time, it feels like a new chapter for Noah. I couldn't be prouder of the finished product.\" - Josh ?gDeakin?h Dibb \"It's a classic rock dream with a glimpse of a beautiful little nightmare.\" - Daniel Lopatin \"In 'Sinister Grift,' Panda Bear is shown alone, facing fate and hardship.\" This time, Noah's pure and poignant lament feels more vivid than ever, as if waking from a dream. Panda Bear, with his familiar voice, navigates a dangerous path, delivering a torch song that is both weighty and light. - Jessica Pratt Noah has a songwriting ability that expresses things with great precision. Every idea, word, and sound feels like it exists for the purpose of the song itself. Sinister Grift has a timeless feel, as if the song has been around for decades, and a sense of pointing to a future full of fresh light. - Maria Reis In these dark times, we need music to get through life. Panda Bear has that magic, and his voice feels like a medicine to heal this world. With Sinister Grift, which Noah has given us, we can relax and feel like we're near the beach. - DJ Falcon Sinister Grift is a beautiful album. Everything sounds authentic and natural, as if it has always been there. A truthful and timeless work. - Alan Braxe \u003ctracklist\u003e 01. Praise 02. Anywhere but Here 03. 50mg 04. Ends Meet 05.
