It includes four previously unreleased tracks featuring The Cinematic Orchestra! The masterpiece "Endless Planets" by the legendary young pianist Austin Peralta, who tragically passed away at the age of 22, is being reissued as a deluxe edition by Flying Lotus's label, Brainfeeder. This release includes four previously unreleased session tracks recorded at the legendary BBC Maida Vale Studios, and since it was originally released only on CD, this marks its first appearance on vinyl. The contract with Austin Peralta and the release of "Endless Planets" are groundbreaking in the history of Brainfeeder, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, and it is a memorable album as the label's first jazz release. Released just a few months before his friend Thundercat's debut album, "The Golden Age of Apocalypse," and four years before Kamasi Washington's masterpiece, "The Epic," Austin, a prodigious pianist, brilliantly blends inquisitive futurism, astonishing originality, and a pure respect for jazz tradition. In that sense, it's no exaggeration to say that it's one of the most important works that defined the future of Brainfeeder. This deluxe edition includes four previously unreleased tracks. These are session recordings made in July 2011 at the legendary BBC Maida Vale Studios in London, and are valuable recordings featuring up-and-coming musicians such as Richard Spaven (drums), Tom Mason (bass), and Jason Yard (alto sax), under Austin's direction, as well as Heidi Vogel (vocals) and Jason Swinscoe (electronics) of The Cinematic Orchestra. Also included is "DMT Song," a song co-written by Austin Peralta, Flying Lotus, and Thundercat, with Thundercat on vocals in the original version (featured on Flying Lotus's album "Until the Quiet Comes"). Austin, son of legendary skateboarder and Dogtown Z-Boys member Stacy Peralta, is a jazz musician from Los Angeles. It's not simply that his musical style is jazz; it's because years of practice and dedication have molded him into a true jazz musician, giving him the personality and skills to collaborate with Chick Corea, Hank Jones, and Ron Carter, playing piano and composing like a seasoned veteran. And he achieved all of this by the age of 20, before he became widely known for his work as a session player for Erykah Badu and Shafiq Hussain's band, and for his participation in the Pan African People's Archestra. 'Endless Planets' was recorded with the late Zayn Musa (alto sax), Ben Wendell (tenor & soprano sax), Hamilton Price (bass), and Zach Harmon (drums). His longtime friend Strangeloop handled the electronic sounds throughout the album, and The Cinematic Orchestra and Heidi Vogel participated in "Epilogue: Renaissance Bubbles." A vast sonic exploration. Through this project, Peralta clearly expresses who he is. I hope you will love this album, just as I have loved it for years. Thanks for Endless Planets, Austin. -Thundercat- I don't think art should be categorized within secular conventions. True art refuses to be categorized and transcends all boundaries. So it's not something that can be discussed in terms of whether it's secular or not. If you surrender yourself to art and let yourself be carried away by it, it may be an experience unlike anything you've ever had before. It could be a gateway to an infinite world. -Austin Peralta-
